Sculpture Ready for You Now

10 Nov

This one’s done and up for sale at eBay. Just click your mouse a few times and wait for the doorbell to ring. It’s easy! … Or just come enjoy it if you don’t feel like buying. The more, the merrier!

Pity The Fool

25 Oct

I was at a party the other night, when I started talking to someone, only realizing after way too long that I was calling her by the wrong name. Hi, here’s me:

Full Moon Face 2.0

25 Oct

My first full moon face turned out pretty popular. But if I’d known then what I’ve learned since about selling on eBay, shipping, mold-making, etc., there are a lot of little details I would have done differently. If only I had it to do all over again. Hey, I do have it to do all over again, to wit:

Celestial Contrast

21 Oct

Having determined that his treatise on “The Phenomenology of Mind” will require only a single volume of footnotes, the Sun may now turn his attention to more tenebrous matters. As for the Moon? It’s all sweet music to the Moon’s ears.

New Sun & Moon Pairs

19 Oct

A new sculpture in the “doodling” stages. With these, I stumbled upon a new technique of drawing lines by pushing straight into the moist clay with the tip of a paint brush, then pulling it back out diagonally. I want to get polyclay or waxy effects with water-based pottery clay or porcelain.

More Attempted Art Nouveau

10 Aug

This is going to be an incense holder. I was trying to mimic Art Nouveau, and got one step closer to the design I’m trying for. But I definitely need to learn flowers next. Maybe modeling actual flowers would work.

Not Quite Art Nouveau, but Squiggly Nonetheless

24 Jul

My second try at an art nouveau tealight/incense holder is closer to the mark, but we’re not quite there yet. Something’s missing. Still, I think this will be worth making a mold and copying.

Real-Looking Sun Face

5 Jul

This survived bisque firing, and I’ll glaze it next. I’m thinking it might make a good contrasting pair with the moon face.

Three Fingers, of Course

3 May

I slapped together a quick gargoyle body and put the head on. The feet and hands are quick gestural studies, tons of fun to make. I love gremlins & gargoyles because it’s all play. No fussing over proportions.

Look Out Scoob!

2 May

Back to sculpting, after a foray into mold-making. If I can ever reproduce this in concrete, it’ll make some garden art, I think. This one is turning out suspiciously dog-like.
