Casting Tech Break

23 Apr

I think my month-long adventure in moldmaking is pretty much over. Now I’ve got the tech, at least for simple one-piece molds. I’m done trying to slip-cast in silicone with Rockite. Instead, I’ve developed a simple two-step pour method using an appropriately sized dish bottom or blob of clay to make a big dent, save precious Rockite and mount the hanging wire. Meanwhile, disturbing signs of uncured silicone deep inside one or two molds. I’ll give them some time. They’ll come around.
